SLJ – Superheros

Our challenge for the first task for the Summer Learning Journey was to design a Superhero.

We would have to create a list of what’s special about the character / how they are unqiue, their pyhiscal apperiance, their outfit and the weapons / tools they use. The hero I created is named Elongate, his body is very lenthy due to the fact that he can strech his body, he dosent talk and he uses no weapons / tools.

To create the design we could use three seprate websites: Craiyon which is a A.I  in which we would have to input spefic words to get the desired outcome. The other two websites are Kleki and Google draw. Kleki is a website where you can draw

I founds this activity very enjoyable because we did this before and had great fun with it.

My Hero & Two Villains

Market Days

It was a bright and scintillating day, it was filled with exuberance for Panmure Bridge School as everyone was full of energy and vigorousness. Each and every stand stood out including each of their products that took dedicated work to accomplish in which the people selling the items did a superb job at persuading people to buy their unique item.

Everyone’s finished products were amazing, Room 1 created pet rocks, slime and wrapping paper for xmas, Room 2 made bookmarks, Room 3 constructed a gift booth, Room 4 built christmas decorations and gift bags, Room 5 forged dream catchers, LS1 crafted bookmarks and pencil cases and us (LS2) fabricated fishes with different varieties of colour.

I enjoyed Market day as it was a good experience and a bright delightful Atmosphere.

Phares dans la Tempete, la Jument

LI: To use your smart searching skills to find the story behind this picture

Our challenge was to write create a DLO that shows where this lighthouse is and what the story is behind the image. We found out that the Phares dans la Tempete, la Jument is a lighthouse in Brittany Northwestern France constructed in 1911 in which it is very famous in its region.

I found this activity a little challenging because we had nearly to none information about it.

Inchcape Bell

LI: To find and summarise the story behind the poem

Our challenge was to unpack the story behind the 17 verses of the poem Inchcape Rock by Robert Southy. The part I found interesting was “Canst hear,” said one, “the breakers roar? For methinks we should be near the shore.” “Now, where we are I cannot tell, But I wish we could hear the Inchcape Bell.”  I found this interesting because in the poem Sir Ralph cutted the thing he needed to help him.

I found this activity quite enjoyable because I got to learning more information just by a poem.

Cultural Superheroes

LI: To describe your superhero

Our challenge was to design a DLO of the story they are in using key vocabulary from all our T- shaped units to describe them and their attributes. We built on this challenge by creating a slide that explained who our superhero was, their backstory, what their strengths and weaknesses were and who their nemesis was.

My superhero is Ja the Forest Gladiator. His backstory is that he accidentally murdered tons of animals (Soon after he then collects an emerald that controls nature) and people due to his recklessness with his powers in which he makes a vow to himself, to use his powers to protect others if its people or animals.

Ja’s strengths / abilities consist of Super Strength, Speed, Samina, Endurance, Durability and control nature to his will and Ja’s weaknesses are fire, animals and cages due to his trauma as a child.

I found this activity fun because we got to make a superhero that applies to our culture in which we also used A.I art.

Creepy Stairs

We wrote a story about stairs.

Today we were instructed to write a story about us going down dark stairs to investigate something in which we could use features like nouns, adjectives, verbs, adverbs and personification. An example  of a personification would be: The clock watched over us or the clock counted the numbers with its hands, the clock doesn’t actually have fingers to count or actual visuals.

In our text we could be with anyone which made it quite easy unlike the last one we did in which we sat in silence.  The text we made used the six senses: Gustatory – taste, tactile – touch, visual – sight, auditory – hearing and kinesthetic  – movement. The personification, the senses, adjectives and adverbs together I feel improved our writing for this task.

This task was a lot easier due to our communication with one another in which I think we made a pretty interesting story.

These Shoes have a Story to Tell…

L.I: To understand that personification is to give an inanimate object human qualities.

We wrote a story about shoes.

Last week we were instructed to go back to back, to someone and write a story about shoes in which we could use features like personification (Giving inanimate objects human-like attributes) . An example would be: The clock watched over us or the clock counted the numbers with its hands, the clock doesn’t actually have fingers to count or actual visuals.

In our text we could not communicate with anyone which made it quite difficult in which when one of us finished a sentence the other person would have to carry on. The text we made could also use the six senses: Gustatory – taste, tactile – touch, visual – sight, auditory – hearing and kinesthetic  – movement. The personification and using the senses together I feel improved our writing for this task.

This task was quite difficult due to the silence but at the end it was pretty funny.

Reading | Book Covers

We used A.I to create book covers.

Last term we were tasked to use the A.I Craiyon to make book covers of a genre so me and my partner both agreed to make a horror book cover. After many ideas we both landed on the thought of including two monsters in it, both being really scary and having their own special features.

For us to use the A.I we would have to input certain words to get the output in which the process of the A.I took 5 minutes to draw what we input and even longer to find cool and scary designs so while we were waiting we were thinking of the plot / blurb of the story.

The blurb of our story is that: The extinct Hit-monkey comes back to life, Stronger than ever to show who is the REAL ruler of the jungle, But a newcomer is born to show who the real king is, But Who will be the king? After writing our blurb we then focused on the book details like the number on the side and the title and the author.

I enjoyed this task very much because I got to experience A.I drawing for the first time.

Aretha Franklin – Respect

I researched Aretha Franklin’s song RESPECT.

For one of my silver respect tasks was to research Aretha Franklin’s song RESPECT. In 1965 Otis Redding made a song called RESPECT which was later rewritten in 1967 by Aretha Franklin which became a worldwide anthem for women encouragement and empowerment. Aretha’s inspiration to make the song was because of Clara Ward who was a family friend of Aretha.

The reason Aretha Franklin rewrote Otis Redding’s song is because of the way Otis said RESPECT, it made the word respect very clear and becauseshe wanted respect from her husband. With her empowering voice and messages Aretha has influenced a new generation of activists and also has influenced people like Beyonce and even Ariana Grande.

Equipment and Property

LI: Students will learn how to look after equipment and property.

For Positive Behaviour for Learning (PB4L) the whole of LS2 each created a DLO of a single digital contract on a google draw. Every DLO / contract explained why properties and belongings are important and why they need to be looked after and how they would look after it.

Each contract the LS2 students made is about respecting others belongings, an example of this is placing the belongings in a secure and safe area away so you can remember the whereabouts of it. Another example of respecting someone’s belongings would be to establish an understanding with other people to be careful with it so they don’t end up breaking it or losing it. It is of the utmost importance to follow at least one of these two examples, because the item may have a high value, personally or costly.

This activity was quite challenging and troubling in my opinion because of one big change I had to do in which I did not receive the outcome I wanted.
